What is NormaTec® Recovery System?
Created by a physician bioengineer, NormaTec® Recovery Systems use dynamic compression and massage patterns to improve circulation, reduce muscle soreness, and maximize recovery.
NormaTec® sessions begin with a pre-inflate cycle, during which the connected attachments mold to the body to help users feel less sore. The system then will start compressing the target area: hips, legs, feet, arms, etc. depending on the attachment being used. Similar to the kneading and stroking done during a massage, each segment of the attachment will first compress in a pulsing manner and then release, reinvigorating the legs.
How NormaTec® Compression Works
During the 30- or 60- minute session, NormaTec Pulse Technology system employs three pattern techniques to maximize your recovery of your legs, hips or arms.
Pulsing: Using dynamic compression (vs. static-squeezing), the pulsing action mimics the muscle pump of the legs and arms, enhancing the movement of fluid and metabolites out of the limbs.
Gradient: To prevent fluid backflow, the NormaTec uses hold pressures to keep fluids from being forced in the wrong direction.
Distal Release: When there is no need to prevent backflow, the NormaTec releases the hold pressures in each zone to allow each limb maximum rest time between compression cycles.
